About Chamber Bravura
Chamber Bravura is an extra-curricular vocal performance organization composed of vocalists from various middle and high schools from around San Diego County, CA. These students perform rigorous choral music with only two hours of practice a week. They strive to study and perform challenging and interesting music in a variety of genres. Chamber Bravura began as an a cappella group from a local middle school after they performed in a prestigious national middle school choir concert in Carnegie Hall. As the students matriculated in to high school, founder Katherine Girvin combined veteran students with current students to make Chamber Bravura.
Since the group's formation, they have been invited all over the world to perform in many prestigious concert venues. (See list of major tour history below). The students rehearse as a group, only one time per week, proving their dedication and diligence to achieve so much with such little rehearsal. These students have been recognized as the number one a cappella choir in the nation, twice, by Heritage Festivals at national competitions. Additionally they received the highest scores at an international choral competition in Sydney Australia in July, 2017. Their director, Katherine Girvin, has been teaching choral music for 6 years and has received music teacher of the year twice for the southern California region.
